So many new beginnings are starting to rise during late Spring. No wonder, since a strong sense of liminality regularly accompanies this time of year. Despite, or perhaps because of, so many new projects popping up I wanted to finish a piece that has been sitting on the shelf for far too long. The idea was to create a stretchy cotton strap suitable for guitar, banjo, or mandolin. It started as a road trip project in Fall 2019 while we wove our way from Crescent City to Berkeley for the Old Time Gathering. Although it ended up being more of a swatch than anything else, I am quite pleased with how easily the seed stitch knitted up since I have always loved its beaded texture. What could be more satisfying than a practical, fast knit? This pattern is going to be taken through a few more iterations before it is published. Even so, I'm hoping the first draft will be dyed to reflect the colorful personality of its lovely recipient, although it doesn't look half bad in white eith...
